fall check list

I am so excited to actually be checking things off my Fall List, because I feel like I am making the most of our last fall in Virginia. We have had SO much fun accomplishing our "Fall List", here are some pictures to prove it!

this is the hubby and our friend from work Ben at the Gross's Family Apple Festival. I think my faovite thing about this picture are the mountains and clouds in the background.

the beautiful mountians on the way to the apple festival
look at all those trees!
The hubby and I suprised a friend of ours by coming to visit her and her husband in Fredericksburg. While we were there we did all kinds of "fallish" things like going on a hay ride, going thru a corn maze, making a bonfire with smores, and my favorite going to a pumpkin patch. I love how the orange sticks out agaist all that green in this picture....
We found the perfect pumpkin!Me and the hubs with our amazing friends (who we miss so much) Jamie and Susannah before entering the corn maze
Back in Lynchburg we made carmal apples twice! it is such a fun process.... sticky but fun! Here is our end results the first time we made them.
My first trip to the apple orchard this fall was with 3 amazing friends. This is Randa and I picking our apples
Then i went again with Mike and the Wagners. Here we are posing with Ronnie Jr at the apple festival.

Here is a small glimpse of my fall decoration skills. The leaves, walnuts and acorns were all found in the woods while the hubs and i played golf frisbee with the Wagners...

Hope you are having a fun time checking off your fall list!

fall is in the air

I am LOVING this fall weather. I am not one that enjoys cold weather but i do love the atmosphere fall brings along every year. From all the fun things you can do with pumpkins to the trees changing colors... i love it all!

This fall is really special to me because this will probably be our last fall in Lynchburg Virginia. Such a sad fact to face. I LOVE that we can enjoy all four seasons here (without the extreme winters like in PA). If things go through for us we will be in Keller Texas in January and from what i understand there is just a hot season and a rainy season. Don't get me wrong I am SO excited to have an average of 85 degree weather everyday, that is my heaven. BUT i am sad to say goodbye to not only the fall weather but also to the mountains and the beautiful trees that are here all year long.

So, in honor of our last fall in a state that gets to enjoy all 4 seasons i have made a list of all the "fallish" things i want to do!

1. make pumpkin muffins

2. decorate our home for fall

3. bake some pies! maybe a pumpkin and apple?

4. go to an pumpkin patch and pick out the perfect Bream Team pumpkin to carve

5. carve a pumpkin ( i promised Mike this year we would carve a pumpkin with the Steelers emblem on it.... we shall see how that turns out)

6. bake the seeds from the pumpkin.... so good!

7. go hiking

8. go to an apple orchard

9. make caramel apples

10. enjoy the leaves changing colors!

( I actually have already checked some off my fall list and i will post pictures soon! )

Pittsburgh Steelers

My Hubby Mike and I celebrated our first year of marriage back in July. We stuck with tradition and got each other paper... well kinda. My awesome husband "bought" me (aka put money aside) either Taylor Swift or Brian Regan tickets. Love them both, so hard to decide!

Mike is a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan (YAY PA!) so i thought it would be perfect to buy him some tickets to a game this season. WELL, before i bought them a friend of ours decided he didn't want his pre-season game tickets so he gave them to us! Pretty sweet deal huh. I ended up not having to spend hundreds on his gift and got amazing seats at the game!

This is us, in our Steelers gear, at a Superbowl when they won 27-23 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Let me introduce you to Casey Hampton.....

Here are some things you should know about Casey:
1. he is #98 for the Steelers
2. he is 6-1 and weighs 325 ( remember this for later...)
3. he is the Nose Tackle... which pretty much means he takes down two men at a time instead of one.
4. I am his BIGGEST fan... why you may ask?

Well, anytime that i watch football i am amazed at how big the players are. So Mike thought i would enjoy Casey since he is by far the largest guy on the team. I love watching Steeler games now!

I will hopefully post pictures from the actual game soon. Since i don't currently have internet at my house its really hard to keep all of that updated.

The Beach

We recently returned from our family vacation to Ocean Isle, NC. My family and I have been staying in the same condominium for the past 15 years, so needless to say I have some great memories there. Since we didn't go last year, cause we got married, this was the first year that Mike came along. I LOVED finally being able to share one of my favorite things with him. I thought i would share some photos for you to enjoy!

our view from our condo.

The condominium we have been staying at through out the years. This year was probably be the last we stay there. It was looking alittle scary : /

This will probably be one of the very few pictures you will see of us making silly faces because i am HORRIBLE at them! I can never think of anything to do so i always make Mike do smiling pictures.

Christmas Card? I think so!

A Child's Version of Love

I received this email from a friend of mine and i thought you might enjoy it as well. Some children were asked to write down what love meant to them and it's amazing to me what they viewed love as.

What Is Love

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.' Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.' Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.' Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.' Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.' Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.' Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss' Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.' Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,' Nikka - age 6

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.' Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.' Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.' Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.' Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.' Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.' Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.' Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.' Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image) Karen - age 7

This one 'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.' Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.' Jessica - age 8

And the final one The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

... it's ok if you got a little teary eyed with some of them, I did!
